Plockton

Spent some time in the picturesque seaside village of Plockton today on Scotland’s west coast across from the Isle of Skye.  It is an enchanting village established in the early 19th century on the northern edge of Lochalsh. Though it was not in existence during the reign of the Lords of the Isles, it sprang up in what was once their territory in Wester Ross. Plockton, affectionately known as the “Jewel of the Highlands” boasts a wee population of around 470 residents but is a main tourist stop for those seeking a quick detour off the NC 500.

One last sunset from Plockton and the area of Wester Ross was gifted me tonight and tomorrow I am off for Oban and eventually Edinburgh and my flight home.  Another chapter of the Footsteps of the Lords project finished.  Next trip in January!
