A cloudy day

I have been staying in the ancient crofting village of Acharacle just north of Salen at the eastern end of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. It is a beautiful area, my cottage overlooks Loch Shiel and the morning light is gorgeous over the loch.  Dalelia, which we visited yesterday sits on this loch which is known for its dense oakwoods and it is on this loch in the hamlet of Gaskan that the MacDonalds built their boats (birlinns). There are cruises from Glenfinnan up the loch to Gaskan that I would like to take in order to capture some of the scenes here as it is an important place in my journey to follow in the footsteps of the Lords of the Isles. Next trip!!

It seems I absolutely cannot leave Castle Tioram alone! I wanted to see it when the tide was in so took another short drive to Dorlinn again and was not disappointed.  Too bad it was so cloudy as this would have been beautiful to photograph if the sun was present.  The tide was going out so I was able to cross over to the castle fairly soon after I arrived and I tramped around its base and imagined living there!
