Drove through Skye to Uig to catch the ferry to Tarbert on the Isle of Harris. Smooth trip, great lunch aboard the ferry and within 2 hours we had arrived.  First impressions of Harris were of a small village with a clear tie to maritime industries.  Charter boats to St. Kilda and other islands make their home in Tarbert as well as a few yachts and small boats. The town is typical of what we have seen in other small hamlets throughout Scotland with the white kit houses inspired by the classic Hebridean “Whitehouse” form, characterized by its white rendered walls, slate roof and attractive dormer windows. Other houses and buildings are constructed out pf gray stone or wood.
