It was a cold, windy May morning on the docks today and there was a lot of activity. Two scallop boats came in and were unloaded and then the Eaglett II brought in another large catch of tilefish. There was also a lot of activity of people doing maintenance on the boats, repairing nets, welding drags, and even washing boats like we would wash our cars. It takes a lot of attention to detail to keep these boats functioning and equipment constantly needs repairing or replacing. Just this past week one of the boats lost one of its huge drags when it caught on a wreck and broke off and fell to the sea floor, lost forever.
