It was a quiet morning at Viking Village though I did catch the Southern Hunter going out the inlet. The forecast was clear and the supermoon was due to rise around 7:30. This seemed like a great night to make photos of surf fishermen with the moon behind them. I met Bayside Dave and his friend Craig on the beach and waited for the moon! Of course I was hoping one of them would catch a fish before it got too dark! At first the only fish reeled in was a cow nose skate but then Dave’s rod gave the unmistakable bend that signified something was hooked. Sure enough, he reeled in a nice regulation size striper and there was just enough light to get the photo. I also like the photo of Craig casting with his rod pointing at the moon. These anglers are also a part of what makes the Jersey Shore what it is and I hope to capture a few good photos of them for the book.
